The Chevron Cybersecurity Engineering and Innovation team is responsible for establishing cybersecurity best practices for the enterprise and identifying and testing new technologies that support the continuous improvement of our cyber capabilities.
The Engineering and Innovation team is a part of the Chevron enterprise-wide security organization, IRSM (Information Risk Strategy & Management), led by the CISO
The Role
Cybersecurity engineers reach broadly across all digital functions of the company to help make quality investment and design decisions with the goal of ensuring all digital solutions are secure-by-design.
They provide engineering support for identification and mitigation of cybersecurity risk and establish guardrails and engineering standards that help the enterprise manage cyber risks throughout the lifecycle of our assets
Establish and communicate cybersecurity best practices and patterns to digital delivery teams and ensure solutions are secure-by-design
Support risk assessments for existing operating environments and planned IT and OT projects by reviewing architectures and configurations and identifying and articulating cyber risk
Provide recommendations and drive design changes to mitigate identified issues from risk assessments, vulnerability scans, or audit exercises
Assist with implementation and optimization of security technologies
Actively participate, contribute, and present to internal and external cyber community forums (e.g., best practices, lessons learned, templates, processes)
Research, test and/or lead a proof-of-concept project for new and emerging cybersecurity technologies
Participate in the development of security research project proposals
Experience
Experience with selecting, designing, architecting, and/or deploying security technologies in IT and/or OT environments
Experience with creating security policies, guides, or patterns (deployment scripts, code libraries, etc) to facilitate standardization of cybersecurity processes and capabilities
Experience with conducting or assisting with cybersecurity assessments leveraging common frameworks and standards such as NIST 800-53/82 or IEC-62443 and creating detailed recommendations to address gaps
Experience with techniques and tools that promote effective analysis of root cause and creation of action plans
Skills
Demonstrated understanding of threats, vulnerabilities, attack path,s and exploits in an IT and/or OT environments
Demonstrated ability to appla y risk-based approach to applying and maintaining cybersecurity safeguards
Ability to influence and/or motivate teams, and work with a variety of disciplines, cultures, and environments.
Ability to work effectively, and communicate effectively at all levels with operations, design, projects, vendors, peers, etc.
Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner both orally and in writing
Education –
Bachelor of Science in an engineering or technology-related discipline preferred
